Long Point Friends of Causeway  Association

The Friends Of the Causeway Association (FOCAS) was formed in January of 2009 in response to a proposal to make significant changes to the Long Point Causeway.

These changes include:

Removal of most of the trees on the causeway;

Spending 16.6 million tax dollars to rejuvenate the marsh and construct wildlife passages beneath the road;

Construction of a bicycle /walking path adjacent to the road;

Passing the cost of maintenance of the above on to the local taxpayer.

On Aug. 10, 2009, FOCAS issued its original Position Statement in an attempt to provide the public with a clear declaration of the view FOCAS has on projects related to the causeway.  Times have changed, and therefore, so has the official position of FOCAS.  These changes are reflected in our Revised Position Statement.
