The Friends Of the Causeway Association (FOCAS) was formed in January of 2009 in response to a proposal to make significant changes to the Long Point Causeway. These changes include:

	Removal of most of the trees on the causeway;
	Spending 16.6 million tax dollars to rejuvenate the marsh and construct wildlife passages beneath the road;
	Construction of a bicycle /walking path adjacent to the road;
	Passing the cost of maintenance of the above on to the local taxpayer.
