Long Point's ecosystem attractive for tourists

Haldimand-Norfolk may soon cash in on its unique environmental assets.  The Canadian Biosphere Reserve Association, in partnership with the Canadian Tourism Commission, has announced a project to promote eco-tourism.  Among the planned destinations is the Long Point World Biosphere Reserve, one of six internationally recognized land and water ecosystems in Canada.

Causeway groups to hold private meeting

Two opposing groups will sit down together for the first time this weekend in a private meeting.

Representatives from the Long Point World Biosphere Reserve Foundation and the Friends of the Causeway Association (FOCAS) will discuss their differing views on the Long Point Causeway Improvement Project (LPCIP) on Sunday.

Both groups aren't sure what will come of the meeting.

"Hopefully something positive," said Peter Black, president of the biosphere reserve. "Maybe after the meeting, we can move forward collectively.”            Read more...
